Sapporo Beer Museum | The Perfect Place for Beer Lovers

Japanese beer is not quite as famous worldwide like some other countries’ beer brands. But for those in the know, most Japanese beer brands are popular as a lighter, easy to drink type of beer. Sapporo Beer is one of Japan’s favorites, so if you are in Sapporo city make sure to visit Sapporo Beer Museum to learn more about one of the city’s points of pride!

In Japan, beer originated from Hokkaido and Sapporo is Japan’s oldest beer brand, founded and brewed in 1876. Located in a beautiful old red brick brewery from the early Meiji period, the Sapporo Beer Museum and Sapporo Biergarten are two must-see places in Sapporo. Officially opened in July 1987 by the Sapporo House, the Sapporo Beer Museum is an interesting museum about the history of beer in Japan and the production process over the years, and admission is free. It was, for many years, the only beer museum in Japan.
